Setting:
Tribal Health / Community Dental Clinic Position Overview The Dental Clinic is seeking a compassionate and skilled Locum Tenens Dentist for a 13-week contract. The Dentist will provide comprehensive preventive, restorative, and emergency dental care to tribal members and other eligible patients in a culturally respectful, community-focused environment.
Schedule Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday:
8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m.
Wednesday:
1:30-4:30 p.m. Two emergency appointments are scheduled daily based on availability. Walk-in services are currently suspended. Key Responsibilities Conduct new-patient, annual, and problem-focused dental examinations. Diagnose oral diseases, infections, injuries, and other dental conditions. Develop and carry out individualized treatment plans. Provide fillings, extractions, root canals, crowns, bridges, dentures, and partial dentures. Order, review, and interpret dental radiographs. Administer local anesthesia and prescribe medications when appropriate. Evaluate and treat urgent dental conditions, including acute infections and uncontrolled pain. Refer patients to outside specialists when necessary. Educate patients about oral hygiene, preventive care, and recommended follow-up treatment. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation. Work collaboratively with dental hygienists, assistants, administrative staff, and outside providers. Follow all patient-safety, infection-control, privacy, and clinic requirements. Provide respectful and culturally responsive care to tribal and underserved patients. Qualifications DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school. Active and unrestricted Oregon dental license or eligibility to obtain one. Current DEA registration, if required for prescribing duties. Current BLS or CPR certification. Ability to practice comprehensive general dentistry independently. Strong patient communication, clinical documentation, and teamwork skills. Ability to complete the clinic's approximately four-week credentialing process before the assignment begins. Preferred Qualifications Tribal health, Indian Health Service, community health, or rural healthcare experience. Experience serving Native American or medically underserved populations. Experience providing emergency, restorative, endodontic, surgical, and prosthodontic dental care.
Pay:
$150.00 - $160.00 per hour
