//info.flclearinghouse.com Purpose of Your Job Position The primary purpose of your job position is to prepare and serves nourishing and attractive meals and other foods as required to support the menu specific to diet orders and other center events, in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and Solaris HealthCare's established policies and procedures. Alongside this, you will also perform a variety of tasks usually not requiring cooking skills in the preparation, service, and clean-up for meals served to residents and staff in the nursing center and other special events. Job Functions General Responsibilities Residents Rights Safety Staff Development Food Preparation/Production Responsibilities Reviews menus, production and prep guides to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared.' Prepares all meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure the utmost in quality with a minimum of waste. Uses nutritionally equivalent substitutes when required. Operates a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, such as blender, mixer, fryer, slicer, steamer, food processor, convection oven, stove, conventional oven, steam table and tilt skillet. Carries pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, refrigerator, freezer and dining rooms. Prepares and labels nourishments according to center procedures. Delivers to resident areas. Prepares and portions desserts, salads and other non-entrée foods into dishes. Pours beverages. Follows Production sheets and Pre-Preparation Guides. Uses proper handwashing technique and frequency. Wash, peel, cut, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare for use. Tests and observes food by tasting for palatability. Slices portions of meat for individual servings. Follows recipes. Add gravies, sauces, and garnishes as required. Prepares and assists with special function meals. Completes work assignments. Meal Service Responsibilities Food Safety/ Food Handlers preferred Administrative Responsibilities Special Activities/Attributes Education Ability to read and write, required. Experience One to two years as cook in a large-scale cooking operation, preferred.
