Dietetic Technician - Full-TimePosition Overview We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Dietetic Technician to support a high-volume community nutrition and meal-production program in Des Moines, Iowa. This position will support menu planning, meal tracking, invoice processing, compliance, audits, and daily food-service administration. This is primarily an onsite position with the potential to work remotely approximately one day per week, based on business needs, performance, and operational coverage. Strong menu-planning, culinary, computer, and communication skills are required. The ideal candidate understands high-volume food production and can develop nutritionally appropriate menus that are cost-conscious, appealing, and realistic for the culinary team to execute. Key Responsibilities Develop, review, and maintain nutritionally balanced menu cycles Enter and maintain menus, recipes, ingredients, allergens, and nutrition information in menu-planning software Ensure menus are appropriate for high-volume production and distribution Coordinate recipes, substitutions, special diets, and texture-modified meals Complete nutritional analysis and verify compliance with program requirements Partner with culinary leaders to ensure menus can be produced consistently and efficiently Track daily meal counts, production volumes, and program participation Use Excel to maintain trackers, organize data, review trends, and prepare reports Review meal-tracking information for accuracy and resolve discrepancies Process invoices and maintain organized administrative and financial records Assist with product ordering, inventory records, and invoice reconciliation Prepare operational reports and maintain required compliance documentation Conduct food-safety, sanitation, production, and documentation audits Track audit findings and follow up on corrective action plans Support regulatory readiness and internal or external reviews Monitor food quality, portioning, presentation, and menu compliance Review production records, temperature logs, labels, and food-safety documentation Communicate clearly with culinary teams, operational leaders, vendors, and program partners Provide training and guidance to onsite culinary team members Support additional nutrition, administrative, and operational projects as assigned Qualifications Professional culinary or food-production experience required Previous menu-planning experience required Strong computer skills required Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications Experience using menu-planning, recipe-management, or nutrition-analysis software strongly preferred Ability to learn and navigate new computer systems quickly Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience with high-volume meal production strongly preferred Associate degree in dietetics, nutrition, culinary arts, food-service management, or a related field preferred Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR/NDTR) credential preferred Experience with invoice processing, meal tracking, compliance, or auditing preferred Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food allergies, modified textures, and nutrition standards Understanding of large-scale food production, recipe execution, portion control, and kitchen operations Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records Excellent organization, time management, problem-solving, and follow-through Ability to work independently while collaborating with culinary and operational teams Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines Schedule Full-time position Primarily onsite in Des Moines, Iowa Potential for approximately one remote workday per week based on business needs, performance, and operational coverage Remote work is not guaranteed and may be adjusted as operational needs change Compensation $21.00-$25.00 per hour, based on culinary experience, menu-planning background, computer skills, education, credentials, and overall qualifications. We are looking for a dependable, self-motivated professional who understands both the culinary and administrative sides of a high-volume meal program. Success in this position requires strong menu-planning ability, technical confidence, clear communication, accuracy, and excellent follow-through.
Pay:
$21.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
