Job Description

Smoking Aide Full-Time 1 Shift Wed 8am-8pm and PRN (as needed)
Job Summary:
Heartwood Extended Health Care in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Smoking Aide that will assist in a safe smoking protocol to ensure residents can smoke in the designated smoking area and securing smoking materials and safety equipment upon the conclusion of designated smoking times.
Essential Functions:
Monitor resident's capacity and notify Licensed staff to adjust plans as needed. Assist clients in developing personalized plans for quitting smoking Provide education and resources to clients on the dangers of smoking and the benefits of quitting Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to clients Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client progress and treatment plans Assist residents place Aprons on and monitor smoking activity Take residents from/to rooms after the session Clean the smoking section/area after each session. Reports any allegations of Abuse and Neglect to their Direct supervisor Any duties assigned by supervisor
Education, Licensure, & Experience Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to read written directions, comprehend verbal instructions. Working knowledge of office machines (copier, fax, phone systems, etc.) Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other facility staff. Possess special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications. The responsibilities of this position involve significant physical activities including standing, lifting (up to 30 pounds unassisted), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and twisting.
