Must possess the education, training, clinical experience, professional qualifications, and demonstrated competency necessary to oversee the care of the facility's patient population. Must demonstrate knowledge of California CLHF requirements, applicable Title 22 provisions, the California Nursing Practice Act, patient rights, confidentiality, infection prevention, and mandated reporting responsibilities. Must demonstrate competency in assessing changes in condition, clinical escalation, physician notification, emergency response, medication management, and supervision of licensed and unlicensed nursing personnel. Must have experience overseeing medically complex patients and the treatments provided by the facility, which may include tracheostomy and ventilator care, oxygen therapy, enteral feeding, IV therapy, central lines, and complex wound care. Must possess strong leadership, communication, organizational, staff education, and problem-solving skills. Must maintain current BLS/CPR certification and any additional credentials required for assigned responsibilities. Must successfully complete applicable employment screening, health clearance, license verification, and competency validation. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous DON experience in a California CLHF. Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Experience with regulatory surveys, investigations, plans of correction, and quality improvement. Additional training or certification in infection prevention, wound care, staff development, or respiratory care relevant to the patient population.
