Job Description

Sterling Village is looking for an experienced RN leader who wants more than a title. We're looking for someone who wants to lead, build, mentor, and make a difference. $90,000 annual salary, based on experience and qualifications. Potential for a salary increase after 90 days, based on performance and demonstrated leadership. $5,000 relocation bonus for qualified candidates relocating to the Sterling area. Sterling Village is entering a new chapter with new leadership and a commitment to strengthening the experience of our residents, families, and staff. We know there is meaningful work to do, and we are looking for a Director of Nursing who is excited by the opportunity to be part of that work. This is an opportunity for a strong clinical leader to help build a strong nursing team, establish consistent clinical practices, develop staff, strengthen relationships with residents and families, and help shape the future of our community. If you are the kind of leader who sees a challenge and thinks, "Let's get to work," we'd like to meet you. About Sterling Village Sterling Village proudly serves elders through skilled nursing and independent living services. We are committed to enhancing the quality of life of those we serve by providing compassionate, person-centered care in a supportive community. With new leadership and the support of Grace Team Services, Sterling Village is focused on building a stronger future. We are looking for a DON who wants to be an active part of that future—not simply maintain the status quo. Your Opportunity As Director of Nursing, you will serve as a key clinical leader and partner to the Administrator. Together, you will help strengthen the nursing department, improve systems and processes, develop staff, and create a culture where residents receive excellent care and employees understand what is expected of them and feel supported in achieving it. This is a leadership opportunity for someone who is willing to listen, assess, lead, make difficult decisions, hold people accountable, and follow through. You will have the opportunity to: Build and strengthen a nursing team. Establish clear clinical expectations and consistent practices. Develop and mentor nurses, CNAs, and other clinical team members. Strengthen communication among nursing, administration, residents, and families. Identify opportunities for improvement and lead meaningful change. Create systems that promote accountability, consistency, and quality. Help develop a positive, professional nursing culture. Use clinical data and observations to identify areas for improvement. Be visible and engaged with residents and staff. Work collaboratively with the Administrator and Grace Team consultants. Help create a nursing department where people want to work and residents feel confident in their care. What We Are Looking For We are looking for more than someone who has held the title of DON. We are looking for a leader. The right candidate will be someone who: Has strong clinical judgment and takes ownership of their responsibilities. Is comfortable leading through change and uncertainty. Can hold people accountable while maintaining positive working relationships. Builds trust through consistency, communication, and follow-through. Develops people rather than simply managing them. Is willing to be visible and engaged on the floor. Can identify problems and move toward solutions. Has the courage to address difficult situations appropriately and professionally. Understands that culture is built through everyday actions and expectations. Is financially responsible and understands the importance of working effectively within available resources. Communicates openly with the Administrator and works as a true leadership partner. Has the patience to listen and understand before making major changes. Has a genuine passion for serving seniors and improving their quality of life. Brings energy, flexibility, professionalism, and a positive attitude to the workplace. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who sees an opportunity when others see a challenge. A Leadership Partnership You will not be expected to do this alone. Sterling Village has new administrative leadership and is committed to building a strong leadership team. The DON and Administrator will work together to establish priorities, address challenges, support employees, and create a better experience for residents and families. You will also have access to the support of Grace Team Services, including clinical and operational consultants who can provide guidance, resources, and expertise when needed. We believe strong leaders need both authority to lead and support to succeed. Why Sterling Village? Sterling Village may not be perfect—and we aren't pretending that it is. We know there is work to do. That's what makes this opportunity meaningful. We are looking for someone who wants to help write the next chapter of Sterling Village's story. Someone who wants to see a nursing team become stronger, staff become more confident, residents and families regain trust, and the overall culture continue to improve. You will have the opportunity to make a visible difference in a community where your leadership matters. At Sterling Village, you will have: A new administrative leadership team committed to moving forward. A superior DON training program designed to support your personal and professional growth. A collaborative team and clinical consultant available to provide guidance and support. The opportunity to build and develop your own nursing leadership team. The opportunity to implement meaningful clinical and cultural improvements. Support from Grace Team consultants without the pressure and bureaucracy of a large corporation. A workplace where compassion, communication, accountability, and resident-centered care matter. An opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of residents, families, and employees. What Success Looks Like We don't expect you to fix everything overnight. We do expect you to lead. During your first months, we want you to learn the team, understand the systems, build relationships, identify priorities, and begin establishing a strong foundation for improvement. Over time, success will mean: Stronger teams. Better communication. Consistent clinical practices. Greater accountability. More confident staff. Stronger relationships with families. Better experiences for residents. And a nursing department that people are proud to be part of. Qualifications Current Kansas RN license in good standing. Prior experience in long-term care/skilled nursing preferred. Previous nursing leadership experience strongly preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop staff. Commitment to person-centered care and quality of life for seniors. What's in It for You? Above-average starting salary with competitive benefits, including: $90,000 annual salary, based on experience and qualifications. Potential for a salary increase after 90 days, based on performance and demonstrated leadership. $5,000 relocation bonus for qualified candidates relocating to the Sterling area. Low-cost Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance. Life Insurance. 401(k) option. Paid Time Off. Professional development and leadership support. Access to Grace Team clinical and operational consultants. Why Choose Sterling Village? At Sterling Village, you are more than an employee. You are part of a team that has an opportunity to make a difference. We believe in listening to our staff and residents, supporting our leaders, and creating an environment where people can grow. We recognize that meaningful change takes time, commitment, and strong leadership—and we are committed to providing the support necessary to make that change possible. It's an opportunity for a strong leader who wants to make a real difference. If you are ready to lead, build, develop people, and help shape the future of Sterling Village, we want to hear from you. Lead with heart. Lead with purpose. Help lead Sterling Village into its next chapter.
