Responsibilities:

Provide direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, including bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulation, transportation, and other activities of daily living. Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the RN and assist with responding to patient needs and emergent situations within the scope of the nursing assistant role. Obtain and document routine patient information, such as vital signs, blood glucose readings, intake and output, and patient weights, according to established procedures. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment by completing safety checks, cleaning equipment, changing linens, stocking supplies, and keeping patient care areas orderly. Support patient comfort and wellbeing by delivering meals and nourishments, refilling water pitchers, distributing mail, and providing one-on-one supervision or companionship when needed. Assist with the use of patient care equipment and supplies, including stocking, ordering, and distributing items necessary for patient care. Apply, monitor, and remove restraints as directed by physician orders or hospital policy and provide diversion activities to help reduce restraint use. Collaborate effectively with patients, families, nurses, and other team members while maintaining professional and respectful interpersonal relationships. Adhere to all hospital policies, confidentiality standards, infection prevention practices, and safety procedures. Contribute to the overall success of the unit by responding to call lights and phones, assisting coworkers, transporting patients, participating in continuous learning, and supporting departmental improvements.
