Job Description

CURRENT HOLLAND HOSPITAL
EMPLOYEES- Please apply through Find Jobs from your Workday employee account. The Exercise Physiologist works with Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab patients to establish safe and effective exercise and healthy lifestyle behaviors directed toward optimizing health, preventing secondary conditions, and improving QOL. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the EP develops and administers programs designed to enhance cardiorespiratory fitness and endurance and address cardiovascular and pulmonary risk factors.
Health and Fitness Assessment:
Administers and interprets health screening tools to identify individual risk factors and level of readiness to participate in rehab. Administers cardiorespiratory fitness assessments to establish baseline fitness levels and precautions. Individualized Treatment Plan Development (ITP) and
Implementation:
Incorporates health and fitness assessment data along with known medical history to develop comprehensive ITPs that address known risk factors and client goals. Develops, implements, and progresses safe and effective written exercise prescriptions and that include home programs to achieve desired fitness and health goals. Modifies exercise programs as indicated based on patient response. Demonstrates and teaches appropriate technique in the use of cardiovascular and resistive exercise equipment. Identifies and corrects improper technique. Monitors cardiac rhythms, blood pressures, heart and respiratory rates, pulse oximetry, RPE, and MET levels. Responds to abnormal levels, patient symptoms, and/or changes in patient performance per department procedures and policies. Promotes and facilitates adoption and adherence of exercise, nutrition, stress management, and health management behaviors through the application of effective group and individual teaching, counseling, and motivational techniques.
Communication:
Adheres to department guidelines regarding time frame, form, and content of written documentation, including Daily Session Reports, Individualized Treatment Plans, communication notes, and other patient related documentation. Communicates effectively with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts.
Administrative and Other Responsibilities:
Contributes to program development activities, program monitoring activities, quality improvement teams, UPT meetings, staff meetings, and other scheduled team meetings. Maintains a safe exercise environment including communicating equipment maintenance needs to the manager and sanitizing equipment.
