Primary Function The BC serves as a consultant to the Mobile Therapist and/or the Behavioral Health Technician while maintaining some direct contact with the child and the family. The BC works with the treatment team to design and direct a behavior modification plan that will meet the needs of the child and family. The BC provides assessment, program design and monitoring of treatment interventions rather than direct therapy. Education and consultation is provided to consumer's and caregivers regarding diagnoses and appropriate behavioral interventions. Skill transfer is the goal of the BC and all IBHS clinicians, consequently increasing the child and family's independence and growth. Responsibilities

• Identify behavioral goals and intervention strategies for use by the entire team
• Design and direct individualized behavior modification intervention plans
• Consult with all treatment team members, providing support in the home, school and community settings
• Provide assessment, program design and monitoring of progression toward goals
• Gather information and explain behavior intervention techniques
• Schedule and participate in the child's interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Participate in special child-centered, family-focused meetings with outside systems, such as school, when questions or conflict around behavioral paradigms arise
• Address the "whole picture" of the child or adolescent, which includes more than just behaviors
• Develop a plan of behavioral intervention and assist others in implementing it
• Monitor the child or adolescent's response to the behavioral plan and make modifications based on the needs and outcomes
• Observe the child or adolescent in multiple settings and collaborate with those working with the child
• Maintain all client files on his/her caseload, keeping it up to date with necessary documentation from open through closing
• If a BHT is part of the team, the BC obtains information from the BHT worker in order to guide future interventions and to monitor patterns of behavior
• Transfer skills to caregivers
• The BC must see the client and/or family at least 50% of the prescribed hours
• Fulfill hours prescribed/assigned
• Participate in psychological evaluations throughout treatment
• Provide oversight to the BHT, including on-site supervision
• Analyze data and develop treatment plan reviews, updating progress toward goals and behavioral changes
• Maintain a functional, individualized treatment plan
• Develop a crisis plan for each client
• Complete weekly paperwork, submitting by 9:00 AM Mondays
• Ensuring all documentation is accurate and thoroughly completed
• Complete a psycho-social history upon initial session Responsibilities (continued):
• Communicate effectively and professionally
• Attend and participate in monthly supervision
• Attend and participate in required trainings
• Develop a team concept with MT, BHT and other service providers, such as Case Managers
• Complete Quality Assurance checks for all assigned cases
• Have current driver's license
• Maintain current clearances: Act 33/34, FBI, Criminal Record
• Take all assigned BC cases

• Knowledge of natural supports and the importance of identifying these supports
• Knowledge of HIPAA

Knowledge of Child Protective Services Law Minimum Qualifications:

In accordance with the Medical Assistance Manual for Intensive Behavioral Health Services (Chapter 1155), the minimum requirements for Behavior Consultation Services are:

• Must meet ONE of the following if consumer does not have an ASD diagnosis: 1.

Be licensed in the Commonwealth as a behavior specialist 2. Have a current certification as a BCBA or other graduate level certification in behavior analysis that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute. 3. Have a graduate degree in ABA from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Counsel of Higher Education or have an equivalent degree from a foreign college or university that has been evaluated by the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. The Department will accept a general equivalency report from the listed evaluator agencies to verify a foreign degree or its equivalency. 4. Have a minimum of 1 year of full time experience in providing mental health direct services to children, youth or young adults and a graduate degree in psychology, social work, education or counseling from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Counsel for Higher Education Accreditation or an equivalent degree from a foreign college or university that has been evaluated by the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. The Department will accept a general equivalency report from the listed evaluator agencies to verify a foreign degree or its equivalency. 5. Completed a clinical or mental health direct service practicum and have a graduate degree in psychology, social work, education, counseling or a related field from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Counsel for Higher Education Accreditation or have an equivalent degree from or university that has been evaluated by the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. The Department will accept a general equivalency report from the listed evaluator agencies to verify a foreign degree or its equivalency.

• To provide services to individuals on the Autism Spectrum, the BC shall be licensed in the Commonwealth as a psychologist, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, clinical social worker, social worker, behavior specialist, certified registered nurse practitioner, or a professional with the scope of practice that includes overseeing the provision of ABA services.
