2 days ago Job Description SUMMARY The Mental Health Therapist (MHT) - Registered Play Therapist (RPT) provides strengths-based, culturally responsive, trauma-informed therapeutic services to eligible Native Americans in an outpatient setting, with specialized clinical services for children, adolescents, families, and other clients for whom play therapy is clinically appropriate. The MHT/RPT provides culturally competent mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, counseling, case management, crisis intervention, and continuity of care services. The MHP/RPT utilizes play therapy and other developmentally appropriate, evidence-based therapeutic interventions to facilitate communication, emotional expression, behavioral regulation, developing coping strategies, problem-solving, skill building, strengthening social engagement, and cultivating psychological resilience. The MHT/RPT will maintain the Registered Play Therapist credential and practice within the scope of applicable state licensure, professional standards, and recognized play therapy competencies. Services will honor the cultural traditions, values, strengths, family systems, and community of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Graduate from a master's degree program with emphasis in psychology, mental health counseling or social work from an accredited college or university.
  • Current SD LP, LMFT, LPC, LPC-MH, MSW, CSW, or CSW-PIP.
  • Current Registered Play Therapist
  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional clinical work experience as an MHT in any government, private, or non-profit organization.
  • Must possess and maintain a current driver's license.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must submit to and pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must pass Public Law 101-630 background checks.
  • Knowledge of administering, scoring and interpreting a wide variety of evidence-based assessments.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based diverse therapeutic interventions and theories, as well as how to apply them in clinical settings based on client diagnosis and plan.
  • Knowledge of the current APA edition of the DSM 5-TR and
ICD-10-CM
codes.
  • Knowledge of psychotropic medications.
  • Knowledge of clinical and social services documentation procedures and standards.
  • Knowledge of community health services and social services support agencies and networks.
