The Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant (ECMHC) is responsible for providing early childhood mental health consultation support to Head Start staff, children, and families. The ECMHC will provide a broad range of services, including early childhood mental health consultation in classrooms; training staff; screening, assessment, and referral services; promotion and marketing of group services; and providing parent trainings. The ECMHC will also collect data, maintain records, and support compliance in all facets of Head Start Performance Standards and State regulations. We are looking to fill vacancies in the following areas: Bee County Essential Duties Conduct whole classroom observations for every classroom on site and individual observation on students with social-emotional concerns Provide strategies and guidance and model developmentally appropriate activities for children and effective ways to work with and support young children Meet with families to discuss obtaining consent to work with the child and family to provide services in the classroom Routinely reach out to parents of students on your caseload once a week or every two weeks based on needs of the individual student to provide social-emotional learning updates and determine if referrals are needed Collect data, update records, and enter notes in the electronic filing system, ChildPlus Provide child and family referral to community services and document in ChildPlus and follow up to see if there are any barriers to accessing services Participate in collaborative meetings with other areas of discipline (Education, Disability, and Leadership) Coordinate with the Family Advocate and facilitate an on-site parent training over mental health-related topics Submit invoices either weekly or every two weeks. Submit Weekly Service Log Conduct standardized screens and assessments, preferably for young children Use results of screens and assessments to guide work with families, set goals, and develop individualized plans Minimum Qualifications Current Clinical licensed mental health professional (LPC, LPC-A, LCSW, LMSW, Psy.

D, Ph.D, LSSP) Minimum of 2 years' direct experience in a mental health setting providing prevention services and/or mental health therapy to children and families Demonstrated understanding of infant and early childhood mental health Experience with evidence-based practices and curricula to promote early childhood mental health is desirable Knowledge and awareness of Conscious Discipline practices in the classroom is desired, but not required Knowledge of Head Start is desirable Must have professional liability insurance Preferred Qualifications Fluency in English and Spanish (Read, Write, Speak) is desirable Travel This position requires travel up to 100% Physical Demands & Work Conditions This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time Position works in a child facility and has constant exposure to children Position requires frequent standing, walking and time in classrooms which are areas where children reside Ability to manage physically active children ages 3 -5 years old, including guiding, pursuing, and withstanding sudden movements.
