Behavioral Therapist Next Step Transition Center Deer Park, TX Job Details Part-time | Contract $72.15 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications Licensed Clinical Social Worker LPC Master's degree Psychology Applied Behavior Analysis Psychology Adult education Behavioral therapy Full Job Description Next Step Transition Center is a Day Habilitation, Program Provider, and Group Home for individuals with disabilities in Deer Park. As a member of our team, you would work with young adults with physical, emotional, and intellectual disabilities. This will be a independent contractor position. The position will require a one-time assessment and follow-ups weekly or bi-weekly depending on the young adult's needs.
Behavioral Therapist Job Responsibilities:
Interviewing young adults and family members and using physical examinations to diagnose the source of the young adult's movement difficulties. Creating unique, individualized treatment plans that outline the treatment goals and methods to be used. Helping young adults to learn to move their bodies correctly, make their movements less painful, increase the functions of injured body parts, and heal from injuries. Assessing patients and monitoring their progress. Using techniques like functional training and exercise, medication, diet changes, and specialized equipment that is designed to treat and alleviate pain. Coordinating a young adult's care with other healthcare professionals. Providing expert consultations to day habilitation and program provider Teaching young adult and their families about safety and home exercises.
Behavior Therapist Responsibilities:
Analyze patients' thought patterns and behaviors to identify which of these are harmful to them Develop treatment plans based on the unique needs of the patient Recommend exercises and homework that the patient can complete to begin modifying their problem behaviors Maintain meticulous patient records to track progress and identify opportunities for improvement Educating the parents on what they can do to help their child improve their behavior
Behavior Therapist Requirements:
All state licenses required to practice behavior therapy in a professional setting Master's degree in psychology, applied behavioral science, or a related field Previous experience in a similar role Excellent communication skills and a professional, caring demeanor Patience and compassion Knowledge of the best practices in behavioral therapy Experience working with adults with disabilities preferred Applicants must have one of the following licenses: (A) a psychologist licensed in accordance with Chapter 501 of the Texas Occupations Code; (B) a provisional license holder licensed in accordance with Chapter 501 of the Texas Occupations Code; (C) a psychological associate licensed in accordance with Chapter 501 of the Texas Occupations Code; (D) a licensed clinical social worker in accordance with Chapter 505 of the Texas Occupations Code; (E) a licensed professional counselor in accordance with Chapter 503 of the Texas Occupations Code; (F) a person certified by HHSC as described in 40 TAC §5.161; or (G) a behavior analyst certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc.;
