Job Description

Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University's mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that ‎‎‎‎‎‎an adjunct member models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage ‎‎‎‎‎‎in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed ‎‎‎‎‎‎Christian worldview. Adjuncts should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a ‎‎‎‎means to a significant educational ‎‎end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the ‎‎‎‎development of good learning ‎‎conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as it is ‎‎‎‎possible, provide for individual ‎‎differences, abilities, and interests. ‎ An adjunct professor for the Department of Community Care and Counseling will be responsible for the administration, facilitation, and teaching of classes of approx. 14-25 online students from around the country. This job entails daily internet interaction with students pursuing a graduate degree in the fields of Marriage & Family Therapy and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Adjunct Professors will perform administrative tasks, interact with students through grading and interactive forums, and build relationships while under the supervision of Online Instructional Mentors.
Other responsibilities include:
  • Teaching material from approved curriculum in accordance with assigned schedule to ensure student satisfaction.
  • Assisting students in achieving completion of objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Providing regular and timely feedback to students.
  • Advising students in matters related to academics, attendance, and behaviors.
  • Motivating students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process.
  • Maintaining and reporting student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy or related field.
  • Professional license in Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Candidates will demonstrate knowledge of their field and application of current marriage and family therapy practices.
  • Previous experience with online learning management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of faith integration and biblical concepts.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • AAMFT Approved Supervisor
  • Doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or related degree from a COAMFTE-accredited program.
  • Candidates should have experience teaching in higher education, with preference given to those who have taught in the online environment.
  • A strong professional identity as a Marriage and Family Therapist, demonstrated through advanced credentialing, certifications, presentations, publications, and service to the profession.
  • Experience working with the Canvas learning management system.
