Supervisor Health Info Management - Release of Information

Job Description

Provides direct supervision and oversight of the release of information within the Health Information Management (HIM) department. Ensures the timely, accurate, and secure processing of requests for protected health information in accordance with HIPAA, applicable federal and state regulations, regulatory and accreditation standards, Medical Staff bylaws and HIM policies and procedures. Provides leadership for daily ROI operations, including processing medical record requests, validating authorizations, monitoring work queues, ensuring regulatory compliance, resolving complex requests, and maintaining high standards of quality, productivity and customer service.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Associate Degree in Health Information Technology; Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Administration or a related field preferred. Minimum 2 years Health Information Management or medical records experience with Release of Information experience preferred. Minimum 2 years of supervisory or lead experience. Credentialed as a Registered Information Technician (RHIT) or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Working knowledge of HIPAA Privacy requirements and applicable federal and state regulations governing the release of protected health information. Knowledge of medical record content, authorization requirements, and appropriate disclosure practices. Experience handling complex medical record requests, subpoenas, legal requests, and other sensitive disclosures preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop employees. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
