This part-time, on-site role focuses on evening and weekend instruction, with optional weekday opportunities available. Instructors teach EMT Courses, NREMT Refreshers, CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens classes, and assist with Practical Skills Verification and Training as part of EMSU's accredited EMT Program. Responsibilities Deliver EMT, CPR, and First Aid instruction in accordance with EMSU's curriculum and state/national standards. Teach through engaging lectures, demonstrations, and scenario-based exercises. Evaluate student performance through written, practical, and participation assessments. Maintain attendance, grade accuracy, and compliance documentation. Identify and address student performance gaps to support success. Ensure compliance with state and NREMT requirements. Participate in instructor meetings, training sessions, and professional development. Support EMSU's commitment to excellence, teamwork, and student success.
Qualifications Required:
Minimum 2 years of EMS academic or clinical experience in emergency medicine or prehospital care within the past 5 years . Current California State EMT or Paramedic License. Current BLS Provider certification. EMS Instructional Strategies Course (40 hours) or equivalent. If not yet completed, EMSU provides this certification FREE for new instructor hires. Thorough understanding of EMS equipment and prehospital operations (emergency and non-emergency). Basic proficiency with technology (Zoom, digital attendance, scheduling, etc.).
Preferred:
Prior teaching or training experience. Bachelor's degree or higher. NREMT certification. Skills Excellent communication and instructional ability. Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented. Professional presentation and clear documentation. Comfortable using digital tools for communication and coordination.
