Job Description

Personal Care Attendant (PCA) -

Schedule:
[Tuesday - Friday, 4-9pm] Job Summary We are seeking a dependable and respectful Personal Care Attendant (PCA) to provide in-home assistance to an individual with a disability who needs support with activities of daily living. This is a consumer-directed PCA position. The PCA works directly with the individual receiving services and/or their designated representative and follows the individual's established care needs, routines, preferences, and authorized PCA services. The goal of the position is to provide the physical assistance needed while supporting the individual's independence, dignity, safety, and ability to remain active in their home and community.
Responsibilities Responsibilities may include:
Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene. Provide assistance with toileting and other personal-care needs. Assist with transfers, positioning, walking, and mobility. Assist with eating and meal preparation as needed. Provide assistance with prescribed medications when appropriate and within the individual's authorized PCA services. Assist with passive range-of-motion exercises or other approved activities as instructed. Perform light housekeeping related to the individual's needs, including laundry, changing linens, cleaning personal areas, and maintaining an organized living environment. Assist with grocery shopping, errands, and other household activities. Accompany the individual to medical appointments, community activities, or other necessary outings when requested. Assist with mobility equipment and other adaptive devices. Observe and report significant changes, concerns, or incidents to the individual or designated representative. Follow established routines, instructions, and the individual's approved PCA care plan. Maintain the individual's privacy, dignity, and confidentiality. Arrive reliably and complete scheduled shifts as agreed. Qualifications Previous PCA, caregiving, HHA, CNA, disability-support, or home-care experience is helpful but is a plus .
The ideal candidate will:
Be dependable, patient, respectful, and responsible. Be comfortable assisting with personal-care activities. Be able to follow instructions and established routines. Communicate clearly and respectfully. Respect personal boundaries, privacy, and confidentiality. Be able to provide physical assistance safely when required. Be legally authorized to work in the United States. Meet all requirements necessary to become authorized to work as a PCA through the Massachusetts PCA program. A driver's license is requiredNO depending on transportation responsibilities associated with the position. What We Are Looking For This position is best suited for someone who understands that providing good personal care is not about taking control of another person's life. The PCA's role is to provide the assistance the individual needs while allowing that person to maintain as much independence and personal choice as possible. Reliability is especially important because the individual depends on scheduled PCA assistance to complete essential daily activities.
