Duties Help As a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, GS-0640-8, you will serve as the functional expert for issues pertaining to Aerospace Medicine and Force Health Management programs. Incumbent manages essential programs, which impact individual medical readiness (IMR) and personnel fitness for continued worldwide deployability. The position occupant serves as a member of or an advisor to, management boards and committees as well as Wing leadership regarding Force Health Management and Aerospace Medicine. (1) Develops plans, procedures, goals and objectives in support of the Aerospace Medicine and Force Health Management Programs using an extensive knowledge of Department of Defense (DOD), Occupional Safety Health Administrion (OSHA), United Stes Air Force (USAF) and Air Nional Guard (ANG) directives, policies and standards. Programs include physical examinions and standards, flight medicine and reled aero medical and force health management concerns. Interprets directives and applies standards to determine worldwide deployability of personnel. Advises and makes recommendions to senior officials on force health issues reled to physical exams, standards and flight medicine activities to ensure compliance. Determines requirements, requests funding and administers accounts for procurement of supplies, equipment, and medical assessment in support of the physical exam process, flight medicine activities and reled programs. (2) Implements and maintains the informion management systems utilized for aerospace medicine and force health protection programs. Systems include preventive health assessment (PHA) and individual medical readiness (PIMR), Aero medical Informion Management Waiver Tracking System (AIMWTS), Physical Exam Processing Program (PEPP), Grounding Management Informion System (GMIS) and other reled programs. Compiles and completes various special and recurring reports utilizing these systems. Functions as the health systems program administror. Identifies, develops and implements training programs which support mission essential aerospace medicine and force health management requirements. (3) Administers the Physical Examinions and Standards (PES) program and serves as a medical expert on reled issues. Develops procedures to evalue the effectiveness of the PES program and implements processes to ensure individual medical readiness and deployability. Reviews and resolves concerns or conflicts made by the member, supervisor, and/or commander. Identifies reports, formules and recommends solutions to command personnel for resolution of compliance and delinquency trends and pterns which could negively impact medical readiness. Addresses complex medical issues with members, supervisors, commanders, ste staff, and higher headquarters. Identifies and analyzes abnormal findings through research using medical references and professional consultions. Using established guidelines, advises member of findings, determines additional requirements and refers to medical professionals as needed. Edits, reviews and valides physical examinions to determine qualificions for initial or continued military service. Conducts paraprofessional evaluions (an in-depth screening or interview for the purpose of ghering da for the healthcare provider) and interprets results. (4) Manages the Reserve Component Periodic Health Assessment (RCPHA) program. Reviews military unique individual readiness requirements. Identifies documents and ensures member is notified of abnormal laborory or diagnostic results. Tracks PIMR and reports noncompliance informion to leadership. Provides training for unit RCPHA monitors. (5) Acts as the Medical Group customer service expert. Addresses complex issues using independent judgment. Provides technical medical assistance to medical inquiries and responds to inquiry by researching, compiling informion, genering response and providing informion through written correspondence, telephone, electronic or in-person response. (6) Monitors the medical stus of military personnel. Identifies and profiles personnel with medical conditions impacting duty performance or assignment restriction. Reviews and valides profiles disqualified for worldwide duty. Notifies and advises commanders, supervisors and unit deployment managers when a member's medical/dental condition or duty restriction affects deployable stus. (7) Performs additional duties as assigned. Requirements Help Conditions of employment This is an indefinite position, tenure 3, with a time limit determined by the needs of the agency. Any permanent military technician who is selected for this position come tenure 3. The selectee will receive the same benefits and entitlements as the tenure 1 employee, but considered tenure 3 for purposes of reduction in force. You can be termined any time with a 30-day notice. If a permanent resource becomes available, incumbent may be converted to a permanent appointment without competition.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED
: This is an excepted service position th requires membership in a compible military assignment in the Nional Guard. Selectee required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Nional Guard must be eligible for immedie membership and employment in the Nional Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Experiences gained through military technical AFSC training schools (restricted to the one identified/allowed compible AFSC) are included in the two year on-the-job experience. Must have least 24 months of experiences in performing public health program work and managing public health activities. Experienced in functions such as, routine food safety and defense inspection; sanitary evaluions; communicable disease control and disease intervention; occupional health; force health management activities, PHA cell, medical entomology programs and public health medical readiness programs. Knowledge is mandory of basic biological and physical sciences; preventive medicine; fundamentals of microbiology; chemistry; anomy; physiology; and phology of the human body; terminology; limited paraprofessional examinions; medical entomology programs; food science and technology; food handler training; food and wer safety and defense principles; food inspection; laborory procedures; sanitary evaluions; public facility sanition; prevention and control of foodborne; wer-borne; and vector-borne diseases; communicable disease prevention and control; epidemiology; occupional health (including hearing conservion); medical readiness (including medical intelligence, deployment processing, and deployment surveillance); personnel management and administrion; medical service organizion and function; basic medical informion management (including dabase management) and written and oral communicion. Must have a practical understanding or specialized competencies in regard to the Occupional Health and Safety Administrion (OSHA), Air Force Occupional Safety and Health (AFOSH) manded occupional health educion and training programs, and the applicable Department of Defense Instructions (DODI). Working knowledge of the OSHA and AFOSH manded occupional health medical surveillance program. Skilled in conducting the Bioenvironmental Engineering (BEE) Industrial Hygiene Surveys; and understands when to direct the employee occupional health medical examinions (OHMEs).
