Provides support and assistance to the technologist in caring for patients and family members during the imaging process, completing clerical/computer duties, lifting/transporting of patients, and following hospital and departmental policies, protocols, and SOPs (including Radiation and MRI safety).
Responsibilities:
1. Assist radiographers with clerical tasks, including verifying orders, completing questionnaires, and preparing patients. 2. Manage data entry and imaging systems, including EPIC, PACS, and exam tracking workflows. 3. Follow MRI and radiation safety policies, screening patients and reporting any safety concerns. 4. Prepare, instruct, and support patients, explaining procedures and addressing questions. 5. Monitor patients in exam rooms or holding areas, reporting changes to technologists, nurses, or physicians. 6. Transport patients safely and assist with transfers and positioning for exams. 7. Maintain workflow efficiency, verifying exams, communicating delays, and supporting technologists. 8. Monitor and replenish supplies, performing daily and monthly room checks and inventory counts. 9. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, equipment, stretchers, and wheelchairs. 10. Set up equipment and medical/surgical supplies needed for examinations. 11. Perform miscellaneous support tasks, such as collecting and transporting supplies. 12. Complete other duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
Other information:
Technical Expertise 1. Experience working with all levels within an organization is preferred. 2. Experience in healthcare is preferred. 3. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and patient scheduling experience preferred. 4. This position requires excellent communication skills. Education and Experience 1.
Education:
High School diploma or GED required. Current student of Radiologic Technology Program preferred. 2.
Certification:
Basic Life Support preferred, or to be completed within 90 days of hire. 3.
