29371 Position Summary The Supervisor Pre-Authorizations is responsible for managing and directing the daily operations of the Prior Authorization team. This role oversees authorization workflows to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing of authorizations that support patient access and revenue cycle performance. The Supervisor establishes standardized processes, monitors performance, and drives improvements to reduce delays, denials, and rescheduled services. Responsibilities Oversees daily operations of the Prior Authorization team Ensures timely and accurate completion of all authorization activities across service lines Monitors staff productivity, quality, and adherence to payer requirements Provides coaching, performance management, and training support to team members Tracks and manages authorization-related metrics including turnaround times, denials, and reschedules Develops and implements workflows to improve authorization efficiency and reduce backlog Collaborates with clinics, providers, scheduling, and revenue cycle leadership to remove barriers to care Escalates complex authorization issues and payer challenges Ensures compliance with payer policies, regulatory requirements, and internal standards Coordinates with IT on system enhancements, work queue optimization, and reporting needs Supports denial prevention strategies and participates in root cause analysis Leads process improvement initiatives related to authorization workflows Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function Performs other related duties as assigned Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned Requirements and Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree required; relevant certification or 2 years related experience may be accepted in lieu of an associate's degree Minimum 3 years' experience in prior authorization, patient access or revenue cycle required Strong knowledge of payer authorization requirements across hospital and clinic settings Previous leadership experience preferred Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Proficient in Epic and payer authorization systems Ability to manage high-volume, fast-paced operational environments Working Conditions Must be able to maintain a sitting position Typical Equipment used in an office job
