Physically transfers patients from bed to gurney or bed to wheel chair utilizing proper lift assist techniques and equipment. Responsibilities
- Constructs the monthly employee work schedule
- Assists with hiring, training and discipline of Patient Equipment Transporters
- Works closely with clinical staff to ensure transport needs are met
- Transports patients to and from all service areas of the hospital utilizing bed, gurney, or wheelchair
- Cleans, stocks, organizes and distributes equipment used in patient care
- Communicates with clinical staff and patients
- Instructs lift class during General Orientation and refreshes as necessary to support SPHMC
- Works under the supervision of a management team. Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 2 years' experience in patient and/or equipment transport required
- BLS required Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift and move up to 35lbs
- Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
- Typical equipment used in a clinical job
- Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
- Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
