Based on experience About the Position Summit Center for Surgery LLC is seeking an experienced RN Surgery Center Manager / Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the entire perioperative operation of our ambulatory surgery center. This is a center-wide leadership position overseeing:  Pre-Operative / Pre-Op  Operating Room / Surgery  PACU / Post-Anesthesia Care Unit  Sterile Processing Department (SPD) The successful candidate will provide hands-on leadership and operational oversight across the full surgical patient journey—from Pre-Op through Surgery/OR, PACU, and Sterile Processing. This position is ideal for an experienced perioperative RN leader who understands how all four departments must work together to provide safe, efficient, high-quality patient care. Why Join Us?  Competitive salary based on experience  401(k)  [Paid Time Off]  Collaborative physician and leadership environment  Opportunity to lead and improve multiple perioperative departments What You Will Do Perioperative Leadership  Provide overall leadership and oversight for Pre-Op, Operating Room/Surgery, PACU, and SPD.  Direct, coordinate, and evaluate clinical staff and daily clinical operations.  Ensure appropriate staffing, scheduling, assignments, and department coverage.  Promote seamless patient flow from admission through discharge.  Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia, nurses, surgical technicians, SPD staff, and administrative leadership.  Provide direct patient care when needed and appropriate. Operating Room & Surgical Services  Ensure the OR is properly prepared, staffed, and equipped for scheduled procedures.  Support safe and efficient surgical case flow.  Ensure surgical teams have the personnel, equipment, supplies, and resources needed for patient care.  Work closely with physicians and surgical teams to promote excellent patient outcomes. Pre-Op & PACU  Oversee Pre-Op and PACU nursing operations and patient flow.  Promote safe patient preparation, recovery, discharge, and continuity of care.  Ensure staff maintain required competencies and certifications.  Identify opportunities to improve patient flow, communication, and overall patient experience. Sterile Processing Department (SPD)  Provide leadership and operational oversight of Sterile Processing.  Promote effective coordination between SPD and the Operating Room.  Ensure appropriate workflow, equipment, supplies, and resources are available to support surgical operations.  Promote compliance with applicable policies, procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Staff Leadership & Development  Recruit, orient, coach, mentor, and evaluate clinical and support staff.  Promote accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and a positive work environment.  Ensure staff education, competencies, certifications, and training remain current.  Provide continuing education and professional development opportunities.  Address performance concerns and assist with conflict resolution. Quality, Safety & Compliance  Lead and participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.  Monitor quality and safety indicators and identify opportunities for improvement.  Promote a strong culture of patient safety.  Participate in incident reporting, follow-up, and corrective action.  Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations and accreditation standards.  Develop, implement, and review clinical policies and procedures. Operations & Administration  Participate in daily, ongoing, and long-term staffing and personnel planning.  Assist with equipment, personnel, supply, and operational planning.  Promote efficient use of resources, equipment, supplies, and staff.  Support regulatory and compliance activities.  Work collaboratively with the Medical Director, physicians, Administrator, and leadership team.  Support the continued growth, efficiency, and success of the surgery center. Qualifications Required  Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.  Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.  Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent surgical nursing experience.  BLS and ACLS certification.  Strong ambulatory surgery/perioperative nursing experience.  Demonstrated leadership and management experience.  Excellent communication, organization, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills. Preferred  3-5 years of surgery center management experience.  Experience overseeing Pre-Op, OR/Surgery, PACU, and SPD.  MSN preferred.  CASC certification a plus.  Previous experience as an OR Manager, PACU Manager, Perioperative Manager, Nurse Manager, Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing, or Surgery Center Administrator/Manager. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a strong perioperative RN leader who understands the complete ambulatory surgery center workflow and is comfortable leading multiple departments. You should be able to confidently oversee Pre-Op, Surgery/OR, PACU, and SPD, while maintaining strong communication and collaboration among physicians, anesthesia providers, nurses, surgical technicians, sterile processing staff, and administrative leadership.
