!Patient Insurance & Access CoordinatorTotal Health & Wellness Total Health & Wellness is looking for an experienced, dependable individual to join our team as a Patient Insurance & Access Coordinator. This position plays an important role in making sure our patients are properly prepared for their appointments and understand their insurance coverage and financial responsibility.
Responsibilities include:
Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments Check for required prior authorizations and referrals Identify inactive, incorrect, or missing insurance coverage Add and update insurance information accurately in the EHR Contact patients when insurance information is missing or invalid Explain copays, deductibles, coinsurance, outstanding balances, and other patient responsibilities in a professional and easy-to-understand manner Help patients understand why insurance did or did not cover a service Direct patients to the appropriate billing or insurance resource when additional assistance is needed Contact insurance companies when necessary to resolve eligibility or coverage questions Assist patients with getting their insurance information corrected when possible Reschedule appointments when insurance requirements have not been met or coverage cannot be verified Communicate with providers, front-office staff, and the billing department regarding insurance or authorization issues Review upcoming schedules proactively so insurance problems are addressed before the patient arrives Document all insurance verification, authorization information, and patient communication accurately in the EHR The ideal candidate will have: Previous medical office, insurance verification, authorization, or medical billing experience Strong understanding of commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid Experience using payer portals such as Availity Strong computer and EHR skills — AdvancedMD experience is a plus Excellent communication and customer-service skills Ability to confidently explain insurance benefits and patient balances Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently and follow issues through to completion Compassionate, professional, and nonjudgmental communication with patients Ability to work in a fast-paced medical environment This is not simply a front-desk position. We are looking for someone who understands medical insurance and can identify and resolve coverage issues before they become billing problems. If you have medical insurance experience and enjoy helping patients understand and navigate their coverage, we would love to hear from you. We offer in house medical, time paid off and bonuses.
Total Health & Wellness Pay:
$16.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
