UNC Hospitals Audiology is seeking a Per Diem Audiology Support Assistant to provide flexible, as-needed clinical and administrative support across our department. This position plays an important role in maximizing audiologist productivity by assisting with non-billable tasks that support efficient clinic operations and outstanding patient experience. The UNC Hospitals Department of Audiology provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and rehabilitative hearing services to patients across the lifespan in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Our team of 32 audiologists collaborates closely with the Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery to deliver exceptional, patient-centered hearing healthcare to individuals and families throughout NC. Our department's services are currently offered at (5) clinic locations: N.C. Children's Hospital [Chapel Hill], UNC Hospitals Audiology at Meadowmont [Chapel Hill], UNC Hospitals Hearing & Voice Center at Carolina Crossing [Chapel Hill], UNC Hospitals Audiology at Pittsboro [Pittsboro] and UNC Hospitals Audiology at Lake Boone Trail [Raleigh]. While this position may provide support across the department as operational needs arise, the anticipated primary assignment will be at our Pittsboro clinic. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, enjoys working behind the scenes, and takes pride in supporting a collaborative healthcare team. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Clean and disinfect audiology equipment, sound booths, hearing aid fitting rooms, and patient care areas. Prepare sound booths and hearing aid fitting rooms for daily patient care. Maintain inventory and keep clinical supplies stocked and organized. Receive, unpack, and process incoming hearing aid and cochlear implant shipments. Charge rechargeable hearing aid batteries and prepare devices for patient fittings. Complete manufacturer registrations, warranty documentation, and loss and damage forms. Track hearing aid orders to ensure devices and accessories are ready for scheduled appointments. Package and mail hearing aids, earmolds, accessories, and related materials to patients. Provide clerical support, including copying, scanning, faxing, and other administrative tasks as needed. Assist with additional operational projects to support efficient clinic workflow.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Strong customer service skills and a professional, team-oriented attitude. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, visitors, and colleagues. Proficiency with computers and the ability to quickly learn UNC Health software systems. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. A willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment. Basic understanding of patient confidentiality and professionalism in a healthcare setting.

Professional Experience Requirements:
• Prefer completion of an accredited medical administrative assisting program and previous experience in a medical office.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of patients, or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
Computer Skills:
Ability to enter and process data accurately.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
