The Histotechnologist reports to the Lead Histotechnologist of the Immunohistochemistry Histology Laboratory (IHC Lab), Division of Anatomic Pathology. This role requires theoretical and practical expertise to support the operations of a busy IHC histology lab. The incumbent may assist with strategic operational planning for a high complexity IHC lab. They must demonstrate teamwork and provide excellent customer service to improve patient outcomes at City of Hope National Cancer Center. Responsibilities include preparing high-quality IHC tissues and stained slides, troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining lab standards for inspections. Additional duties involve developing new procedures, managing inventory based on LEAN/Six Sigma, and participating in all laboratory inspections. As a successful candidate, you will: Apply scientific theory and departmental policies to function as a certified histotechnologist in a busy IHC lab. Resolve technical problems and maintain test performance characteristics. Assist with evaluating new IHC methods and instrumentation. Support day-to-day operations and improve IHC workflows within the histology lab. Participate in quality assurance activities and ensure accurate patient and quality control testing. Assist with training staff, preparing for audits, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
Your qualifications should include:
Associates degree and completion of a certified clinical program in medical laboratory sciences in histopathology or equivalent education/years of experience ASCP HT or HTL City of Hope employees pay is based on the following criteria: work experience, qualifications, and work location.
