Histotechnologist (HT/HTL) TIAGA Pathology
•Loveland, Colorado About TIAGA Pathology TIAGA Pathology is an independent, physician-owned dermatopathology laboratory located in beautiful Northern Colorado. As our practice continues to grow in both specimen volume and testing complexity, we are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Histotechnologist to join our collaborative laboratory team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where quality, efficiency, and patient care are top priorities. Position Summary This is a part-time, on-site position (10-20 hours per week) based in Loveland, Colorado. The Histotechnologist will perform a variety of histology procedures including specimen accessioning, grossing of routine dermatopathology specimens (as qualified), tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special staining, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and direct immunofluorescence (DIF) support. The ideal candidate is highly organized, quality-focused, and enjoys working as part of a close-knit laboratory team.
Compensation:
$35.00 per hour (commensurate with experience, certification, and qualifications) Essential Responsibilities Accession and verify incoming surgical pathology specimens. Gross routine dermatopathology specimens within the scope of training and laboratory policies. Perform tissue processing, paraffin embedding, microtomy, and slide preparation. Produce consistently high-quality tissue sections suitable for diagnostic interpretation. Perform routine H&E staining and special stains while maintaining established quality standards. Perform manual and/or automated Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Experience is preferred but training is available for the right candidate. Perform Direct Immunofluorescence (DIF) specimen processing and frozen sectioning, experience is preferred but training is available for the right candidate. Perform slide coverslipping, labeling, and preparation for pathologist review. Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and adhere to CLIA, and laboratory quality requirements. Participate in instrument maintenance, quality assurance, proficiency testing, and inventory management. Troubleshoot technical issues and recommend process improvements when appropriate. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment. Collaborate effectively with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure timely case turnaround. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Histology, Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific discipline preferred. HT or HTL certification through ASCP preferred (or eligibility to obtain certification). Minimum of three years of histology laboratory experience may be considered in lieu of certification.
Demonstrated proficiency in:
Tissue processing Embedding Microtomy Routine H&E staining Histology quality control Working knowledge of laboratory safety practices and regulatory compliance. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional quality. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Preferred Qualifications Experience performing manual or automated Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Familiarity with antibody optimization, validation, troubleshooting, and quality control. Experience with Direct Immunofluorescence (DIF) specimen preparation and cryostat operation. Previous experience in dermatopathology or surgical pathology. Experience with digital pathology workflows and whole-slide imaging. Grossing experience with dermatologic biopsy specimens.
