The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to promoting independence, dignity, and well-being among clients. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting residents with daily activities, health monitoring, and personal care in various settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or community-based programs. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring specialized support. Duties Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene. Monitor patients' health status by taking vital signs and observing for any changes in condition. Support medication administration following prescribed protocols while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary needs. Operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts and ensure safe manual handling practices during patient transfers. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning and sanitation tasks in accordance with health standards. Document care activities accurately and communicate effectively with team members regarding resident progress or concerns. Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being, especially for residents with dementia or neurodevelopmental disorders. Skills Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments. Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and hospice care practices. Proficiency in assisting with ADLs, patient monitoring, medication administration, and patient personal care assistance. Familiarity with care plans, HIPAA compliance, manual handling techniques, and patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts. Ability to perform first aid and CPR confidently; experience with emergency response procedures is essential. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities support, or neurodevelopmental disorders is highly valued. Capable of heavy lifting and performing physical tasks safely while maintaining client comfort and safety. Knowledge of home & community care practices, geriatrics principles, senior care strategies, and long-term care protocols.
