Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional support to individuals in various care settings. This vital role involves assisting clients with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a key part in enhancing the quality of life for those you serve through attentive, respectful, and personalized care. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference while developing valuable skills in healthcare and caregiving. Responsibilities Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, to promote comfort and dignity. Support residents with mobility using manual handling techniques and patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary. Maintain accurate care plans and document patient progress, observations, and any changes in condition following HIPAA regulations for confidentiality. Provide companionship and emotional support to foster a positive environment for residents with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other neurodevelopmental disorders. Assist with light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe, sanitary environment to ensure overall well-being. Skills Prior experience working in homes, or any home health environments is highly desirable. Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in health status or behavior promptly. Knowledge of dementia care, memory care, hospice care, and Alzheimer's support strategies. Ability to perform patient transfer methods safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer techniques. Proficiency in medication administration, vital signs monitoring, CPR, first aid, and basic life support (BLS). Experience working with individuals with disabilities—including developmental disabilities—and supporting intellectual disabilities is a plus. Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration while maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
