Skills Prior experience working in homes, or any home health environments is highly desirable. Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in health status or behavior promptly. Knowledge of dementia care, memory care, hospice care, and Alzheimer's support strategies. Ability to perform patient transfer methods safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer techniques. Proficiency in medication administration, vital signs monitoring, CPR, first aid, and basic life support (BLS). Experience working with individuals with disabilities—including developmental disabilities—and supporting intellectual disabilities is a plus. Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration while maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
