Part-time Lab Technician Jeevan Technology Alhambra, CA Job Details Part-time $25 - $30 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications Fabrication Chemical handling safety procedures Laboratory safety Laboratory tests Moving Attention to detail Research & development Mechanical troubleshooting Chemical safety protocols Full Job Description About Jeevan Jeevan is a climate technology company developing novel carbon capture systems. Our work is hands-on, experimental, and fast-moving, with a strong emphasis on benchtop testing, prototyping, and data integrity. This role supports our core R D efforts in our Alhambra facility. Role Overview This is a hands-on role combining bench-scale laboratory work with physical prototype assembly and test rig setup. The ideal candidate is comfortable both running controlled experiments and working with tools to build, modify, and troubleshoot small-scale systems. This role is well-suited to someone who enjoys building things as much as testing them. Key Responsibilities Support Jeevan's benchtop laboratory experiments under the direction of the Lab Director. Prepare common lab solutions and reagents based on target specifications (e.g., calculate and prepare solutions to a desired concentration, pH, and volume). Conduct routine bench-scale lab experiments following written instructions (e.g., resin/column tests, batch mixing, timed procedures), and proactively communicate questions or issues. Operate basic lab equipment as trained, including balances, pH meters, conductivity meters, stir plates, and peristaltic pumps; verify equipment is functioning properly prior to use. Collect, label, and store samples properly; perform basic measurements (pH, conductivity, mass, volume) and record results in a consistent format. Maintain clear, organized experimental notes (including dates, procedures, calculations, deviations, and observations) and upload data and photos to shared folders. Monitor experiments during runs (e.g., flow rate, leaks, temperature, system stability) and immediately document abnormalities or failures. Clean and organize work areas, glassware, and lab tools; manage routine lab waste disposal in accordance with safety guidelines. Contribute to experimental design and assist with equipment assembly and test setup. Maintain material and equipment inventory, including tracking supply needs and assisting with ordering or local pickup when required. Assemble and modify benchtop and pilot-scale test rigs, including tubing runs, fittings, pumps, filters, housings, and support frames. Use basic hand tools (wrenches, drills, saws, tubing cutters, etc.) to fabricate and adjust prototype components. Troubleshoot mechanical and fluid system issues (e.g., leaks, loose fittings, flow restrictions) and implement practical fixes. Assist in building and maintaining scale models and early-stage prototype systems. Support physical setup and teardown of experiments, including moving equipment and reconfiguring systems between test runs. Qualifications Availability for 15 - 25 hours per week during standard working hours (8:00am-5:00pm ET). Ability to reliably commute to and from our lab at 1135 Westminster Ave, Unit K, Alhambra, CA. Prior laboratory experience (academic, research, or industry) preferred. Comfort working with basic lab equipment and following written experimental procedures. Strong attention to detail and willingness to document work clearly and consistently. Ability to work independently while communicating issues promptly and clearly. Prior experience with hands-on mechanical work, fabrication, or prototyping is strongly preferred. Work Authorization Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States for the hours listed. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods and perform hands-on lab work. Ability to lift and move light lab equipment and materials (generally under 25 lbs). Ability to safely handle lab materials while following safety protocols.
