On-site Job Summary We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to support an environmental laboratory that processes wastewater, potable/drinking water, groundwater, beach, and other environmental water samples. This position will focus heavily on sample receipt, intake, documentation, data entry, proper storage, and pre-processing of incoming laboratory samples. The Laboratory Technician will review chain-of-custody documentation for accuracy and completeness, enter sample information into the laboratory system, organize and store samples according to established procedures, and assist with basic laboratory duties as needed. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with scientific information, and able to follow laboratory procedures carefully and consistently. Job Responsibilities Receive wastewater, potable water, groundwater, beach, and other environmental water samples. Review incoming samples and related documentation for completeness and accuracy. Review chain-of-custody forms and ensure required information is properly documented. Enter sample information into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) or other laboratory systems. Perform sample intake and pre-processing according to established laboratory procedures. Label, organize, store, and maintain samples appropriately. Identify sample types and follow applicable handling and storage requirements. Prepare sample kits and maintain inventory of sampling materials. Assist with preparation of reagents and media for basic chemical or bacteriological testing. Assist with basic chemical and/or bacteriological analysis of water samples as assigned. Clean laboratory glassware and sample containers according to established protocols. Maintain sample storage and disposal procedures. Monitor refrigerators, coolers, and other laboratory equipment. Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation. Assist with inventory, ordering, and receipt of laboratory supplies. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Follow all laboratory health and safety procedures. Assist laboratory analysts and other staff as needed. Perform other related laboratory duties as assigned. Qualifications Candidates must meet at least one of the following: Two years of laboratory work experience; or High school diploma or GED with coursework in chemistry, biology, or a related science and at least one year of laboratory work experience; or College-level coursework in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or a related science; or An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Additional qualifications:

Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to follow written laboratory procedures and instructions. Ability to maintain complete and accurate records. Basic knowledge of chemistry, biology, environmental science, or laboratory procedures. Comfortable working with computers and data entry systems. Microsoft Office proficiency. Ability to learn and use a Laboratory Information Management System. Ability to work independently and as part of a laboratory team. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage repetitive, detail-oriented tasks. Ability to distinguish and identify colors. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform the physical duties associated with laboratory work. Valid Florida Driver's License may be required depending on assignment duties. Must be able to pass all required background screening, drug screening, and onboarding requirements. Preferred Experience Previous experience with any of the following is helpful, but not required: Environmental laboratory work Water or wastewater testing Sample receiving or laboratory intake Chain-of-custody documentation LIMS or laboratory data entry Sample preparation or storage Groundwater, drinking water, wastewater, or environmental sampling Work Environment Work is performed in an environmental laboratory setting. Position involves frequent handling, organization, and documentation of environmental water samples. Work may require standing for extended periods, lifting laboratory supplies or sample containers, and performing repetitive hand and computer tasks. Employees must follow established laboratory safety, sample handling, and documentation procedures.
