Department University of LA - Lafayette Opening Date 08/07/2026 Closing Date 8/12/2026 11:59 PM Central About this Job The University of Louisiana at Lafayette New Iberia Research Center specializes in the breeding, management, and importation of a diverse range of nonhuman primate species and offers a broad range of diagnostic, laboratory, and human resources for the development and characterization of nonhuman primate models for applied and basic research aimed at promoting human quality of life. We're looking for a Laboratory Technical Assistant 1 (Animal Care Technical Assistant) to join our New Iberia Research Center team. Animal Care Technicians play a vital role in supporting laboratory operations through technical maintenance and observational work. Minimum Qualifications No experience or training required. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:
Assist with the preparation, calibration, and operation of laboratory instruments and equipment Conduct tests, record data, and compile reports in accordance with established lab procedures Prepare and handle chemical, biological, or physical samples and reagents Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of lab instruments and facilities Observe and document results, maintaining accurate records for experiments and procedures Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and procedural standards Support research and instructional staff during experiments and laboratory classes Monitor equipment and materials inventory and submit orders as needed Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and escalate more complex problems appropriately
