Job Description

Compassion Health Care is seeking a dynamic individual for a Laboratory Technician role at Caswell Family Medical Center. The candidate must possess the characteristics of great work ethic, sound clinical judgment, team player, and demonstrates our core values of compassion for others, commitment, integrity and excellence in their daily work. As a Lab Tech at Compassion Health Care, you will work as part of a healthcare delivery team in a Patient-Centered Medical Home model. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for all functions associated with daily operations of Caswell Family Medical Center's Moderate Complexity CLIA certified laboratory and is responsible for administrative responsibilities associated with the lab.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs phlebotomy while demonstrating the ability to provide appropriate care according to the patient's age (pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) Accurately prepares samples for testing Performs general lab testing procedures such as limited microscopy, rapid strep, pregnancy testing, automated CBC's, drug testing and other testing as defined in the Center's laboratory manual Documents labs performed in the EMR Maintains adequate supply of laboratory supplies Ensures Quality Control and maintenance are performed as needed Monitors environment to ensure safety and follows all safety policies and procedures Job Requirements (Minimum Qualifications): High school diploma or equivalent is required by CLIA for employees conducting moderate complexity laboratory tests. Certificate/diploma from college or technical school with training in phlebotomy, medical laboratory technology, medical assisting or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic Cardiac Life Support is required and must be maintained. Certification in Lab Technology or Medical Assisting is preferred, but not required. Basic computer and EMR proficiency is required Previous clinical laboratory experience in an ambulatory health care setting is preferred. Please note before applying that this is a M-F, no holidays or weekends position in a family practice setting. The selected candidate must meet CHC's employment eligibility requirements, including but not limited to, successfully completing pre-employment drug testing and criminal background screening.
