Job Title Lead Technician - On Site About the Job This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in supporting the Managing Director of Production across all facets of extraction, processing, and manufacturing at our newly licensed cannabis processing facility in New Jersey. The ideal candidate brings not only technical skill, but also a personal commitment to excellence—working with precision, consistency, and pride to help us deliver the highest-quality products to the New Jersey market. Reports To Managing Directors Lab Director Summary The ideal candidate has a deep personal relationship with the cannabis plant and the entrepreneurial drive to match. This person will assist the Managing Director in planning, organizing, and executing lab operations, including extraction, manufacturing, packaging, inventory management, warehousing, and fulfillment. They must be prepared to shift between high-level oversight and hands-on production work. This position offers strong opportunities for advancement, with potential to evolve into a management or director role as the company grows.
Note:
Must be able to work in cold environments (~40°F), often independently, and handle physically demanding workdays. Responsibilities Execute the manufacturing plan daily, weekly, and monthly, ensuring production goals are met. Coordinate workstation setup with the Operations Manager to enable efficient production starts each day. Collect, track, and report data to the Managing Director - Production and/or Lab Director. Collaborate with the Operations Manager on labor schedules and adjust as needed. Manage daily task assignments and resolve issues, escalating to appropriate Directors as necessary.
Oversee and manage:
Raw materials, Bulk materials, Infused products/concentrates, Research & development. Ensure timely and accurate transfer of goods, inventory tracking, and data logging. Partner with line-level staff and supervisors to collect process improvement ideas and incorporate them into SOPs. Assist with department budgeting alongside the Managing Director - Production and/or Lab Director. Conduct quarterly and year-end SOP/process reviews and update accordingly. Communicate equipment or facility issues promptly and coordinate maintenance/repair as needed. Support Operations Manager in maintaining clean and compliant work areas per New Jersey regulations. Ensure workplace functionality and aesthetics are upheld.
Team Management & Development:
Set task standards and expectations, create training plans, manage performance, Oversee hiring and onboarding. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the cannabis industry Strong numerical skills and attention to detail Inventory management experience Proven background in fast-paced production environments with quality control requirements Familiarity with solventless extraction methods Experience in packaging cannabis, especially concentrates Experience in manufacturing infused edibles or working in a commercial kitchen Comfortable working in refrigerated environments (30-40°F) for full shifts Strong time management skills and ability to hit deadlines 2+ years' experience in production/manufacturing roles Physically capable of repetitive, labor-intensive work, including lifting 50lbs Flexible to work varying schedules (nights, weekends, OT) Team-oriented with the ability to give/receive constructive feedback Committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary (commensurate with experience) Merit-based bonuses or commissions Travel expense reimbursement Health insurance stipend Paid holidays Generous product sampling Equal Opportunity Employer Navigator Wellness promotes and supports individual differences and diverse perspectives.
