Full Job Description Overview:
The Center for Discovery and Innovation- CDI was established by Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) as an academic basic and translational research enterprise to rapidly translate science innovation to the clinic and to improve outcomes for patients with cancer, infectious diseases, autoimmune disease and other acute and chronic diseases. The CDI has grown rapidly since its origins in 2019, and now has 39 labs, 200+ scientists and allied personnel supported by 78 NIH and DoD grants and more than 87 other grants and contracts. Areas of expertise include genomics, epigenetics, drug resistance, stem cell biology, drug discovery, diagnostics and biomarker development, rheumatology and pharmacology. Reporting to the Director, Lab Support Operations, CDI, the Lab Support Operations Specialist will perform routine maintenance and minor repairs of laboratory support equipment. This role coordinates complex repairs of laboratory equipment, performs preventative maintenance with internal and external resources, and supports lab personnel on the operation of shared equipment.
Responsibilities:
A day in the life of a Lab Support Operations Specialist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes: Coordinates with Facilities, IT, and other internal and external support teams essential to CDI equipment. Solves organization-level customer service issues and complaints. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with site leaders including attendance at meetings, incident investigation, and routine quality reporting. May be required to travel to all Hackensack Meridian Health facilities while transporting equipment and/or materials required to facilitate repairs using a personal vehicle if a company vehicle is unavailable. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. Minimum of one or more years of experience in a Lab, Biotech or Pharma environment in an operations support role. Familiar with the operations and environment that they support (Lab, Biotech, Pharma). Basic understanding and can communicate the use of lab equipment. Working knowledge of project management terms and methods. Advanced understanding and skills related to general laboratory equipment and devices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office platforms.
