This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with dermatologists and pathology teams to ensure precise tissue processing, accurate diagnosis, and optimal patient care. As a Mohs Technician, you will be responsible for preparing tissue samples, performing laboratory procedures, and maintaining strict adherence to laboratory standards and safety protocols. Your expertise will directly contribute to successful skin cancer treatments and improved patient outcomes. Duties Prepare and process surgical tissue specimens using histological laboratory techniques, including tissue sectioning and embedding. Assist in the preparation of laboratory tissue samples for microscopic examination, ensuring quality and accuracy in specimen handling. Operate and maintain medical laboratory equipment used in tissue processing, sectioning, and staining procedures. Perform laboratory procedures following standard operating procedures (SOPs) while adhering to CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) regulations. Implement immunohistochemistry and other immunological laboratory techniques to aid in precise pathology testing. Collect, process, and handle specimens with aseptic technique to prevent contamination and ensure sample integrity. Maintain detailed records of laboratory activities within Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), ensuring accurate documentation of all procedures performed. Support patient care activities by accurately documenting vital signs when necessary and assisting with specimen collection or processing as directed by medical staff. Follow all safety protocols, including proper specimen handling, biohazard disposal, and maintaining a sterile environment during laboratory work. Collaborate with pathology teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality tissue sections for diagnostic review. Experience Prior clinical or research laboratory experience working with histological tissue sectioning and preparation techniques. Knowledge of pathology testing processes, including immunohistochemistry and other specialized laboratory techniques. Experience working within a medical laboratory environment following CLIA regulations and standard operating procedures. Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) for data entry, tracking specimens, and documentation purposes. Hands-on experience with medical laboratory equipment used for tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, or microscopy. Strong attention to detail combined with excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate records and ensure quality control in all laboratory procedures.
