Job Description

•This job has preference to qualified local job seekers within 60 miles of our Axis Alice, TX facility. Under direct supervision the Cement Laboratory Technician is responsible for helping design and delivering cementing solutions that meet the internal and external customer requirements. Will use cementing knowledge and experience to develop the cementing job design including preliminary job calculations, running computer simulations, designing fluid systems, submitting lab test requests and reviewing and approving test results, performing risk assessments, verifying the design meets regulatory requirements, and providing cost estimates for the planned operation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Under direct supervision, trains and become familiar with the chemical hygiene plan and the current HSE laboratory safety standards. Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations in performing assigned duties. Performs duties to conduct prototype or laboratory tests following prescribed procedures. Learns to build equipment and/or perform basic material or environmental tests using basic techniques with electrical/electronic, chemical, and mechanical equipment. Learn to document test data for reporting purposes. Maintains files and documentation related to test equipment and test results of equipment. Job tasks, correctly performed, have minimal impact upon the viability of the organization. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) High school diploma, 8 hours of college Chemistry or experience in O&G cementing company laboratory Basic O&G laboratory testing equipment (including maintenance of the equipment) and testing protocol Understanding of all well-cementing activities Understanding of chemical additives to O&G industry Understanding of the API Q1 standard Capacity to work independently with mostly remote interaction with internal and external stakeholders Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written in English. Basic math skills and problem solving and organizational skills . Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers, visitors, vendors and other employees.
