Duties Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories, to develop individualized care plans. Administer medications and treatments such as botulinum toxin injections, IV infusions, and medication management for pain, spasticity, or neurological conditions. Perform specialized procedures including catheterization, suturing, tube feeding management, ostomy care, and sterile techniques aligned with best practices. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans that incorporate therapies like occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy for optimal recovery outcomes. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or EMR/EHR platforms to document patient progress accurately and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding condition management, medication administration, mobility techniques, and discharge planning. Participate in emergency response protocols including critical care procedures like airway management, trauma response at Level I or II trauma centers, and neonatal resuscitation when necessary. Skills Extensive clinical experience in diverse settings such as hospital medicine, ICU/CCU/PICU units, emergency rooms, or long-term care facilities. Proficiency with advanced medical procedures including cardiac catheterization, dialysis management, laboratory specimen collection/processing, and infection control protocols. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures, and documentation standards aligned with NCQA standards. Skilled in managing complex cases involving traumatic injuries, infectious diseases, geriatrics—including dementia and Alzheimer's care—and behavioral health challenges. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized nursing interventions such as gastrostomy tube feeding or ostomy care. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or other electronic documentation tools; adept at maintaining accurate medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Ability to perform critical care procedures such as ventilator management, airway management techniques, IV insertion/infusion therapy, venipuncture, and aseptic techniques.
