LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) Pontiac General Hospital - 2.3 Pontiac, MI Job Details Part-time | Full-time $26 - $32 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications Nursing Psychiatry Patient monitoring BLS Certification Working with individuals with mental health conditions Licensed Practical Nurse Patient interaction Psychiatric care Full Job Description Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Psychiatric Licensed Practical Nurse provides a wide variety of direct patient care activities and services for assigned patients consistent with the medical and nursing care plans. LPN II works with the age group of their assigned area (Psychiatric Unit) and complete the educational program for that area.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: 1. Provides direct patient care which includes: a) Observation. b) Nursing care and personal hygiene needs of patients. c) Treatments and procedures. d) Patient teaching. e) Reporting and recording of findings. 2. Assists Registered Nurse in development and implementation of patient care plan by: a) Obtaining assessment information on assigned patients. b) Implementing nursing care plan for assigned patients. c) Evaluating the patient response to care provided. 3. Administers medications to individual patients or a group of patients as assigned. 4.
Performs nursing procedures such as:
sterile and non-sterile treatments, IV site care and monitoring, Heparin lock flushes, administration of IVPB medications, including IVPB via Heparin lock, catheter care, trach care and colostomy care. (IV push medications may not be administered by an LPN). 5. Assists physicians with diagnostic testing examinations and treatments. 6. Collets specimens and performs selected testing. 7. Serves on selected committees when designated. 8. Escorts patients and monitors patient in transit. 9. Participates in maintaining the organization of the environment for patient safety and care. 10. Completes appropriate records and forms for supplies, equipment and services as indicated. 11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION
Reports to the Nurse Manager, Supervisor or Registered Nurse.
LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE II - PSY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.
MINIMUM EDUCATION
Graduate fro an accredited School of Practical Nursing. 2.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
Successful completion of orientation and competency skills. 3.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS
Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families and hospital personnel. Expected to float or be pulled to any other area as needed. 4.
ANALYTICAL DEMANDS
The physical ability to lift, turn or position patient. 5.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE
Current licensure by the State of Michigan required. Successful completion of hospital educational requirements for medication dispensing or NAPNES certification, BLS certification and Crisis Prevention Intervention certification or equivalent training.

Works in a well-lighted and well-ventilated environment. 3.

Medical equipment necessary for the treatment and provision of patient care.
