Walk-In Clinic Job Summary The Walk-In Clinic Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to all patients as directed by medical staff and in compliance with hospital policies. Provides medical assessments, treatments and care of patients that present to PMC's Walk-In Clinic. Maintains satisfactory relationships and positive communication with other departments. Participates in all phases of education, maintenance of records, and upgrading policy, procedures and skills. Essential Functions Provide professional nursing care to sick and injured patients that present to PMC's Walk-In clinic.
Organize and oversee the clinic; prepare patients for medical examinations by a physician or advanced practice provider (APP); assist with examinations and treatment as directed.
Maintain accurate and confidential health records.
Maintain and order medical clinic supplies.
Collaborate and communicate with other PMC departments as needed for continuity of patient care.
Maintain quality patient care; exhibit compliance with physician orders and hospital policies.
Expedite the appropriate care and treatment of patients, often at high volumes, in a short time span.
Identify and clarify patient needs.
Assist with procedures in conjunction with the clinic provider.
Assist with arrangements for follow-up health care.
Provide patient education.
Give direct patient care through applying expert technical skills.
Assess patients' needs through both direct and indirect interactions with the patient and/or family.
Is readily available to patients, family and physicians for consultation and assistance.
Ensure that the electronic medical record of the patient accurately reflects the patient's condition, progress, education, and treatment.
Maintain close communication with members of the medical care team in all matters relating to patient care.
Possess knowledge of the equipment needed in certain situations and how the equipment functions.
Administer medications (oral, intramuscular, and/or subcutaneous) skillfully and correctly according to policy.
Review all nursing responsibilities in the Incident Action Plan for Emergency and Code situations. Understand and practice their own role in the event of a code or an emergency.
Has the ability to be resourceful and calm in an emergency.
Treat all patients equally with respect and dignity.
Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
Regular attendance at the assigned work location is an essential function of the job.
