Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our dynamic ophthalmology team. This vital role involves supporting clinical operations, assisting with patient care, and ensuring the smooth functioning of our medical office. Responsibilities Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and ensuring their comfort. Assist ophthalmologists with clinical procedures, including slit-lamp exams and ocular assessments. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of patient encounters, diagnoses, and treatment plans. Perform basic laboratory tasks such as phlebotomy and specimen collection when necessary. Assist in minor procedures such as chalazion, blepharoplasty, eyelid biopsy, autoclaving, corneal procedures, etc. Support administrative tasks including patient intake, appointment scheduling, and managing medical records. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment. Refill prescriptions, pre-authorize medications. Perform diagnostic testing's: OCT, Visual Field, Corneal Topography, Lenstar/IOL master, A-Scan.
Triage phone calls:
address patients' questions and concerns. Requirements Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar medical office role. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to ophthalmology or general medicine. Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EHR systems) and EMR/EHR management tools. Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately. Experience with ICD coding, medical documentation, and medical records management is highly desirable. Must be a team player. Pay:
$21.00 - $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
