Experienced Medical Assistant - Functional & Integrative Medicine Balanced Health and Wellness Berkley, MI Job Details Full-time From $18 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications Teamwork Vital signs Clinic experience Medical scheduling Attention to detail Medical assisting Full Job Description Experienced Medical Assistant - Functional & Integrative Medicine Elevate Health & Wellness is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our growing functional medicine practice. We are looking for someone with strong hands-on clinical experience , particularly with injections, venipuncture/blood draws, vital signs, and specimen processing , who is also comfortable with patient care coordination, EMR documentation, and communication . An interest in functional, holistic, and integrative healthcare is strongly preferred. This position is ideal for a Medical Assistant who is confident in their clinical skills, enjoys building relationships with patients, and wants to play an active role in helping patients navigate their care from one visit to the next. Clinical Responsibilities Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs and measurements Perform venipuncture and blood draws confidently and efficiently Process, prepare, and centrifuge/spin blood specimens for laboratory testing Administer IM and SQ injections within scope of practice Prepare and administer vitamin and nutrient injections Assist with IV therapy and other wellness procedures as trained Assist providers with examinations and procedures Prepare patients, rooms, equipment, and supplies Complete laboratory requisitions and prepare specimens for testing Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked clinical environment Follow appropriate safety, infection-control, HIPAA, and laboratory procedures Patient Care & Provider Support Work comfortably within an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system Assist providers with patient information and documentation within the medical record Help ensure patient histories, medications, supplements, symptoms, and other relevant information are accurately entered and updated Review tests and laboratory studies ordered by the provider with patients, including instructions for completing testing, within scope of practice Assist providers with patient portal communication and follow-up Help triage incoming patient questions and route clinical concerns appropriately Schedule patients for recommended follow-up visits and upcoming care Make follow-up phone calls to patients as directed by the provider Assist with patient care coordination , including laboratory testing, outside referrals, follow-up visits, and treatment recommendations Help ensure that patients understand their next steps before leaving the office Track outstanding testing and follow-up needs to help prevent patients from falling through the cracks Communicate effectively with providers and other members of the healthcare team Provide a warm, professional, and exceptional patient experience Qualifications Previous Medical Assistant experience required Medical Assistant certification preferred Strong experience performing blood draws/venipuncture Strong experience administering injections Comfortable obtaining and documenting vital signs Experience with centrifuging/spinning blood and preparing laboratory specimens Comfortable using EMR systems and learning new healthcare technology Strong computer and documentation skills Excellent written and verbal communication Strong organizational and follow-through skills Excellent attention to detail Professional, dependable, compassionate, and team-oriented Comfortable working independently and taking initiative in a busy clinical environment Functional & Integrative Medicine Interest We are especially interested in candidates who have an interest in or experience with: Functional medicine Integrative and holistic healthcare Nutrition and lifestyle medicine Hormone health Metabolic health Preventative and longevity medicine IV therapy and nutrient injections Supplements and wellness Natural and alternative approaches to healthcare Previous functional medicine experience is not required. More important to us is finding someone who is curious, open-minded, eager to learn, and excited about helping patients take a more active role in their health.
