Responsibilities Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and safety. Collect and document patient information such as vital signs, medical history, and medication lists using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Prepare examination rooms with necessary supplies and sterilize equipment following infection control protocols. Perform phlebotomy procedures for blood draws and handle specimen processing accurately. Support patient intake by verifying insurance information, updating medical records, and managing appointment scheduling. Administer medications and basic life support (BLS) as trained, adhering to safety standards. Maintain detailed medical documentation including ICD coding, medical terminology entries, and procedural notes to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accuracy in medical records and facilitating seamless communication among care teams. Assist with hospital medicine tasks such as inpatient charting, vital signs monitoring, and coordination within Level I or Level II trauma center environments when applicable. Support clinical staff with specialized procedures like anatomy-based assessments or OR (Operating Room) assistance when required. Qualifications Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar medical office role with a strong foundation in medical assisting practices. Knowledge of dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care procedures, geriatrics, and inpatient care environments preferred. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or pharmacology are advantageous. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management is essential for accurate documentation. Solid understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and pharmacology principles to support precise patient care documentation. Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically across diverse populations.
