Health Information Associate

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare reports/documents for electronic scanning and indexing into electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic dental records (EDR) according to the established policies & procedures Responsible for coordinating the release of medical information to patients, insurance companies, lawyers, state, and federal agencies Responsible for processing of subpoenas and court orders Verify authorizations of medical request and release in accordance with health center policy and procedures and state and federal laws Ensure that all requests for records are stamped with date received and logged in the correspondence log Notify requester when records are available for release Maintain quality, privacy and security of patients' health information Answer patients and other customers' inquires and provide information and direction Assist patients in completion of medical requests and releases according to the Health Center policy and procedures Answer phone lines in the department (external & internal) Prepare and ships records to physicians/external facilities utilizing appropriate mailing sources within required timeframes Maintain and order supplies Commute to other sites to perform duties as needed Generate EMR reports for internal QA, referral/test tracking, etc. Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual in English and Chinese required High School diploma or GED; Associates degree preferred Strong computer knowledge required Medical terminology knowledge preferred A minimum of one year related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience; experience in a medical office preferred
