Job Summary Medical Receptionist - Ophthalmology We are seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Medical Receptionist to join our busy ophthalmology practice in Norwich. The job will require that sometimes you work at the Groton location when necessary. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service while efficiently managing front desk responsibilities, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, answering phones, verifying insurance, collecting payments, and maintaining accurate patient records. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical environment are essential. Previous medical office experience is preferred; ophthalmology experience is a plus. Duties Greet patients warmly and assist them with the check-in process. Schedule appointments and manage the daily calendar for healthcare providers. Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details, ensuring accuracy in medical records. Answer phone calls promptly, addressing inquiries or directing calls to appropriate staff members. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage medical records and ensure proper documentation is maintained. Provide administrative support to healthcare providers as required. Collaborate with other staff members to enhance patient service and clinic operations. Experience Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar role within a healthcare setting is preferred. Familiarity with Medicare processes and medical terminology is highly desirable. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff. Proficiency in office software applications and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Experience in health information management and handling medical records is a plus. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
