Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Correctional Officer at the Reception Medical Center, where you will play a vital role in maintaining safety, security, and order within a correctional facility. This position offers an exciting opportunity to serve the community by ensuring the well-being of inmates, staff, and visitors. Your proactive approach and commitment to security will help create a secure environment conducive to rehabilitation and safety. As a Correctional Officer, you will be at the forefront of law enforcement and correctional operations, utilizing your skills in emergency response, conflict management, and security protocols to uphold the highest standards of safety. Duties Monitor inmate activity through CCTV surveillance and conduct regular visual inspections to ensure compliance with facility policies. Enforce security protocols by controlling access points for staff, visitors, and contractors, ensuring only authorized personnel enter restricted areas. Respond promptly to emergencies using first aid skills, CPR, Taser deployment, or other law enforcement tools as necessary to de-escalate conflicts or threats. Document incidents accurately through detailed report writing, including disciplinary actions, security breaches, or medical emergencies. Conduct manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting when necessary for inmate transport or facility maintenance. Manage conflict situations using conflict management techniques and self-defense skills to maintain order and safety. Support supervision duties by overseeing inmate movements, conducting searches for contraband, and ensuring adherence to criminal justice policies. Requirements Proven experience or background in law enforcement, military service, or security operations is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of CCTV systems, security procedures, and emergency response readiness. Demonstrated ability in report writing with attention to detail and accuracy. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as Taser use or manual handling are advantageous. Ability to handle physically demanding tasks involving heavy lifting and manual handling safely. Excellent conflict management skills combined with self-defense training to effectively de-escalate tense situations. Familiarity with criminal justice policies and procedures relevant to correctional environments is preferred. Region II Pay:
$22.00 - $24.00 per hour
