Behavior Specialist (Board Certified BCBA)

Full-Time, Exempt, 12-month Position Overview LiFT is seeking a collaborative, experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to serve as an internal Behavioral Specialist for our students, educators, families, and multidisciplinary team. This position is designed to strengthen LiFT's ability to support neurodiverse learners through thoughtful behavioral consultation, collaboration, and evidence-based practice. Rather than functioning primarily as a traditional direct-service BCBA with an individual therapy caseload, the Behavior Specialist will work across the school environment to help teams better understand behavior, develop effective supports, and create conditions in which students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Essential Responsibilities Behavioral Consultation & Student Support Provide behavioral expertise and consultation to support the success of neurodiverse learners across LiFT. Observe students and classroom environments to identify behavioral patterns, environmental factors, and opportunities for proactive support. Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop practical, individualized behavioral strategies that can be effectively implemented within the school environment. Conduct or contribute to Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) when appropriate based upon student need, the BCBA's scope of practice, and LiFT's established processes. Review behavioral data and student progress to help teams evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make appropriate adjustments. Support the consistent implementation of behavioral accommodations, strategies, and student support plans. Participate in LSP and other student-support meetings when behavioral expertise would benefit the team. Assist administrators and student-support teams with proactive crisis-prevention and de-escalation planning for students with significant behavioral needs. Behavioral Consultation, Staff Partnership & Professional Support Partner with teachers to identify and implement evidence-based strategies for supporting behavior within the classroom. Model behavioral strategies and interventions in classroom settings when appropriate. Conduct classroom observations and provide practical, respectful, and actionable feedback. Help educators understand the possible function and context of challenging behavior and identify proactive approaches to support student success. Translate principles of Applied Behavior Analysis into realistic strategies that educators and staff can consistently use within the school environment. Provide professional development and training related to behavioral support, prevention strategies, reinforcement, de-escalation, and other areas within the BCBA's expertise. Build the behavioral capacity and confidence of LiFT team members while maintaining a collaborative approach to student support. Multidisciplinary & Provider Collaboration Serve as LiFT's primary behavioral liaison with outside service providers serving LiFT students. Collaborate closely with ABA providers working with students on campus to promote communication, consistency, and alignment between school-based and outside behavioral supports. Partner with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, mental health providers, educators, administrators, and other specialists to support a coordinated approach to student needs. Work collaboratively with families to help them understand school-based behavioral supports and recommendations. Communicate with outside providers when appropriate to better understand existing recommendations and support continuity across environments. Recognize when a student's needs extend beyond the BCBA's scope of practice and collaborate with or refer to the appropriate professional discipline. School-Wide Behavioral Support Contribute behavioral expertise to school-wide initiatives designed to strengthen student success, regulation, independence, and positive learning environments. Promote proactive and preventative approaches to behavior support whenever appropriate. Help identify recurring behavioral trends or systemic needs and recommend strategies, resources, or professional development to address them. Partner with leadership to strengthen consistent behavioral practices across programs while recognizing the individualized needs of LiFT students. Maintain professional documentation and adhere to applicable ethical, confidentiality, and professional standards. Required Qualifications Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification in good standing. Graduate-level education meeting the requirements for BCBA certification. Experience supporting children and/or adolescents with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or other neurodevelopmental differences. Demonstrated knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis and evidence-based behavioral assessment and intervention practices. Experience conducting or contributing to Functional Behavior Assessments and developing Behavior Intervention Plans. Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience working as a BCBA in a school or educational environment. Experience collaborating with teachers and school-based professionals to implement behavioral supports. Experience working with ABA providers, RBTs, BCBAs, or other behavioral professionals across multidisciplinary settings. Knowledge of IDEA, IEP, student-support, and educational accommodation processes. Experience supporting students within classroom and inclusive educational environments Knowledge of executive functioning, emotional and behavioral regulation, and the interaction between behavioral, communication, and sensory needs. Training or demonstrated experience in crisis prevention and de-escalation.
