Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM (~35-40 hours/week)

Status:

Immediate / Urgent Hiring Priority Position Overview Jovie of Las Vegas is seeking a patient, mature, and emotionally steady 1:1 School Aide & Family Assistant to support an energetic and friendly 13-year-old middle school student (8th grade) attending New Horizons Academy, a private special education school in Las Vegas. The primary focus is accompanying the student on-campus throughout the school day, providing consistent adult presence, proactive redirection, behavioral modeling, and boundary reinforcement. This role is ideal for a Special Education Paraprofessional, Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), or candidate with ABA experience looking for a meaningful full-time placement. Key Responsibilities 1. On-Campus 1:1 Student Support (8:00 AM - 2:10 PM): o Provide consistent, calm 1:1 presence alongside the student. o Recognize social triggers or behavioral issues early to intervene before escalation occurs. o Offer firm, kind, and consistent redirection regarding personal space, classroom rules, and appropriate peer language. o Help student remain academically engaged and focused on classroom activities. o Assist student in using translation tools (iPad app) when clarification between English and Mandarin Chinese is needed. o Collaborate with classroom teachers 2. Transportation & Afternoon Support (7:30 AM - 8:00 AM & 2:10 PM - 3:30 PM): o Morning Routine (7:30 AM): Arrive at family home, assist with morning prep, and drive student (13) and her younger sister (9) to their nearby schools using the family-provided vehicle. o Afternoon Pick-Up (2:10 PM - 3:30 PM): Pick up 13-year-old at school dismissal, navigate the school pick-up line for 9-year-old sister (~3:10 PM), and transport both girls back home. o Family Assistance (Secondary/Role Evolution): If school 1:1 needs change, daytime hours will cover home family assistance, including light housekeeping, family laundry, grocery/errand runs, and basic administrative office tasks (printing, typing, paperwork) for parents' home office. Qualifications & Requirements

Experience:

Minimum 2+ years working with middle school/high school teenagers or children with special needs/learning disabilities.

Preferred Credentials:

RBT certification, ABA experience, Special Education degree, or instructional assistant experience strongly preferred.

Mindset:

Patient, calm, emotionally steady, comfortable setting clear boundaries without escalating situations.

Language Skills:

Mandarin Chinese conversational skills are a major plus (not required).

Transportation:

Valid Driver's License with clean driving record (family vehicle provided for job duties).

Vetting:

Must pass Jovie's full screening (CPR/First Aid certified, background check, references) and participate in an interview/shadow session with Principal prior to placement.
