Personal Care Assistant (PCA) / Paraprofessional -
Autistic Support Location:
Delaware County, PA Schedule:
Monday-Friday, approximately 8:50 AM-3:15
PM Position Type:
Full-Time, School-Based Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Personal Care Assistant (PCA) / Paraprofessional to provide direct support to students in an Autistic Support / Special Education classroom within an elementary school setting. The PCA will work closely with special education teachers and other school professionals to provide 1:1 and classroom-based student support, assist with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), reinforce positive behaviors, and help students successfully participate in academic and daily school activities. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in autism support, special education, behavioral health, ABA, childcare, education, or human services. Responsibilities Provide direct 1:1 and classroom support to students with autism and other special needs Assist students with academic activities, classroom assignments, and daily routines Support the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Reinforce teacher-directed lessons and individualized learning goals Assist with behavioral interventions and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as directed by educational staff Redirect behaviors and reinforce positive behavior and coping strategies Monitor student participation, progress, and engagement throughout the school day Document student observations and communicate relevant information to teachers and school staff Help students develop independence, communication, social, and classroom skills Support classroom management and maintain a structured learning environment Collaborate with special education teachers, administrators, therapists, and other educational professionals Utilize classroom technology and educational resources to support student learning Maintain professional and appropriate communication with students, staff, and families Maintain a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment Perform additional student support responsibilities as assigned Qualifications High School Diploma or post-secondary degree required Previous experience working with children or school-aged students preferred Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, behavioral needs, or special needs is highly preferred Experience as a PCA, Paraprofessional, Teacher Assistant, Instructional Assistant, Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), ABA Therapist, Classroom Aide, or Special Education Aide is a plus Knowledge of special education and behavioral support strategies preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other school professionals Patient, compassionate, dependable, and comfortable supporting students with varying needs Willingness to learn and implement individualized educational and behavioral strategies Ideal Candidates Candidates with backgrounds in special education, autism support, ABA therapy, behavioral health, psychology, social work, human services, childcare, education, or youth development are encouraged to apply.
