Job Description

Overview The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a vital role in supporting the treatment and recovery of individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. The BHT provides client care, ensures a safe therapeutic environment, and assists clients in meeting their treatment goals during detoxification and inpatient treatment. Duties Monitor and document client behavior, mood, and activities in accordance with facility protocols. Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, meals, and sleep routines as needed. Conduct regular safety checks and participate in crisis prevention and intervention. Support nursing staff during detox procedures by monitoring vitals, reporting symptoms, and ensuring patient comfort. Co-facilitate psychoeducational and recreational groups as directed. Escort clients to appointments, meals, groups, and recreational activities. Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and facility policy. Accurately complete shift reports, incident reports, and other required documentation. Model appropriate coping skills and interpersonal behavior. Ensure a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment in all clients care areas. Respond to emergencies according to established protocols (e.g., medical emergencies, behavioral crises, fire drills). Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field preferred. Prior experience in behavioral health, addiction recovery, or medical settings strongly preferred. Strong communication and de-escalation skills. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and work effectively in a team setting.

$18.00 - $21.00 per hour
