SUMMARY:
The Chief Technologist oversees all ongoing activity of modality in all facilities, maintains and adheres to organization s policies and procedures. Supervises all employees at facility as to policies & procedures and specific job demands. Takes care of physician and patient complaints. Responsible for maintaining organization s ACR accreditation and MQSA requirements as needed. Must be in good standing with A.R.R.T or NMTCB. May have modality specific duties to achieve compliance with all regulations. May perform other job related duties as necessary for the efficient operation of
SDMI. MINIMUM SKILLS, ABILITY AND REQUIREMENTS
  • A.S. or B.S. degree with major in Radiological Technology. Principle of modality specific and skills required as such. Must be a registered technologist and in good standing with A.R.R.T. and or NMTCB. Maintain recertification on an ongoing basis. Principle of modality specific and skills required as such. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • A.R.R.T. or NMTCB required with modality specific certification
  • Acquire and maintain all ACR certification. Ensure HR has most current certifications.
  • Annually sign then the Image Wisely and Image Gently certificates to HR for your employee file.
  • Maintain Nevada State licensure.
  • DOT air and land shipping and handling experience training.
  • Will perform periodic appraisal of each employee s job performance, including current competencies which this position supervises.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic principles of specific modality.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic modality equipment, skill in specific modality positioning and image slice thickness (protocols) for all exams.
  • Thorough knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Thorough knowledge of plane and solid geometry.
  • Thorough knowledge and skill in utilizing procedural protocols.
  • Basic knowledge and skill in sterile technique.
  • Thorough knowledge and skill with Kodak Lazer.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and compliance of patient rights including the patient confidentiality. Respects patient privacy.
  • Submit documentation of required current licensure and/or certification in a timely manner.
  • Required to maintain the Film Processor s Fixer and Developer Solutions. Required to know the hazards involved in using all Caustic Solutions related to their job duties. Should know where all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are located and how to use them properly.
  • Know how to correctly review and fill out consent forms. Know importance of inquiring about patient allergies.
  • Know types of contrast to use for patients that do no meet normal criteria.
  • Know signs/symptoms and protocol of contrast reactions.
  • Know how to adjust window to get a diagnostic image.
  • Know how to emotionally support and explain procedure to patients.
  • Know fire and evacuation plans for the Radiology Department including the location of the closest fire alarms and fire extinguishers.
  • Know about electrical safety.
  • Comply with universal precaution standards.
  • Skill in organizing time to accommodate changes in workload and assignments in order to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Skill to pay attention to details and accuracy in completing tasks.
  • Responds positively to changes in assignments and priorities.
  • Works as an effective team member with co-workers and other personnel.
  • Communicates effectively when follow up is needed.
  • Able to identify hazardous material in immediate work area.
  • Willingly participates in cross-training activities within the department in for own professional growth in order to contribute to the overall function of SDMI.
  • Assumes responsibility for updating knowledge of current SDMI department policies and procedures, protocol and practices.
  • Demonstrates punctuality by reporting to work on time/satisfactory attendance record that complies with SDMI attendance policy.
  • Takes full responsibility for all functions within job description and assures that all functions are completed before leaving SDMI at the end of the shift.
